Coverage expertise
for when you
need a specialist.

Insurance coverage questions have real consequences — for carriers setting reserves, policyholders facing denied claims, corporations evaluating acquisitions, and litigants in bad faith disputes. Getting the analysis right requires more than familiarity with insurance law. It requires someone who has spent a career doing nothing but this.

I am Jason Pozner, Esq., an insurance coverage attorney and consultant with 19+ years of experience advising national and multinational carriers, agencies, brokers, and policyholders on their most complex coverage questions. As a partner at leading insurance defense and coverage firms in New Jersey and New York, I provided written coverage opinions, drafted reservation of rights and declination letters, advised on policy language, and managed coverage litigation from inception through appeal — including international arbitration matters involving London, Bermuda, and European-based insurers.

In addition to vast experience in multiple lines of coverage, I also regularly address coverage issues involving surplus lines, non-ISO, and manuscripted policy forms — the non-standard policies where coverage questions are most difficult and where getting the analysis wrong is most costly.

National & International Coverage ExperienceState and federal appellate experience; international arbitration involving London, Bermuda, and European-based insurers; nationwide coverage matters
Surplus & Specialty Lines FocusExtensive experience with E&S carrier policies, manuscripted forms, and non-standard endorsements across all major commercial lines
360° Industry PerspectiveExperience on the carrier side, in-house at a specialty insurer, and advising policyholders — enabling objective, credible analysis from any seat at the table
Bad Faith & Extra-Contractual AwarenessDeep experience advising on coverage positions that minimize extra-contractual exposure, and analyzing carrier conduct in bad faith litigation contexts
Insurance Industry Entity RepresentationCoverage counsel to insurers, agencies, and brokers on coverage questions arising in the ordinary course of business, including E&O exposure and program coverage issues

"The most valuable coverage perspective is one that has seen the question from every angle — carrier, policyholder, and the courtroom. That breadth is what I bring to every engagement."

Insurance Defense Attorneys

Coverage expertise
that holds up
under cross-examination.

Insurance coverage disputes that reach litigation require expert testimony that is not just technically sound, but credible, well-reasoned, and capable of withstanding aggressive cross-examination. That requires someone who has spent nearly two decades doing the actual work — not just studying it.

My 19+ years of hands-on coverage experience — drafting opinions, managing coverage litigation, briefing appellate courts, and advising carriers on industry-standard practices — provides the foundation for credible expert testimony on coverage questions and insurer conduct.

I am available to be retained by both plaintiff and defense counsel, and bring the same analytical rigor and intellectual honesty to every engagement regardless of which side retains me.
